medals

The 2012 Olympic games are finished.

THANK GOD! I couldn't stand it any longer.

I'll give my esteemed audience a brief summary of the last games, seen from China:

  1. Opening ceremony
  2. Event X
  3. Chinese athlete (or team) wins the gold (usually; if not, then silver)
  4. Rinse and repeat from step 3 until end of events
  5. Closing ceremony

Don't think I am being envious about the heap of medals won by China (or the U.S.)

Au contraire, mon amis, I am so deeply dissatisfied and jaded about the filth governing my poor old country that I couldn't give a shit if Italy won a ton of gold medals, or zero.

The Olympic medals are NOT IMPORTANT.

Shocked?

Please bear with me a little more.

I couldn't avoid noticing the constant chest thumping of the Chinese people about their medals.

"China is great, we are winning all the medals, Q.E.D."

So what?

I think that if some random nation started selecting gifted pupils and training them like monkeys 18 hours per day for years, they'd reap gold medals as they were berries.

And this is precisely what happened to the poor Chinese kids.

And I'll give you some other piece of intelligence.

All that training costs MONEY, yes, MONEY! The one thing that you, dear Chinese brother, talk and dream about every single minute of your life.

We all know that money is the only thing you care about, don't deny it.

I am not judging, I am merely stating the obvious truth.

And I respect that: hey, it's your life, I'm cool with it.

Now think a little: all that kids selection and training, not to speak about that horrid opening ceremony in 2008, is costing a SHITLOAD of MONEY.

And where does that money comes from?

Guess? TAXES!

It's YOUR money!

Now just think about your precious country diverting all that cash into a pension system that is not a joke, or in the health system that you don't have.

Make an effort... concentrate... Try to figure it... maybe no medals... but instead... PENSIONS! And HEALTHCARE!

Dear Chinese brothers who are still reading these lines (if any): are you still happy your country scored so many medals?

So, please, pretty please, help me and the whole world by adding a comment and tell us WHY?
