Una poesia di Li Bai (李白, lǐ bó) 699 – 762 D.C.
Si tratta di un “五言絕句” (五言绝句, wǔyánjuéjù), cioè una poesia suddivisa in righe di cinque caratteri ciascuna.
Titolo: 怨情 (gǎnqíng), “Amore amaro”.

美人捲珠 美人捲珠 měirén juǎn zhū lián
深坐蹙蛾眉。 深坐蹙蛾眉 shēn zuò cù éméi
但見痕濕, 但見痕湿 dàn jiàn lèi hénjì
不知心恨 不知心恨 bù zhī xīn hèn shuí

How beautiful she looks, opening the pearly casement,
And how quiet she leans, and how troubled her brow is!
You may see the tears now, bright on her cheek,
But not the man she so bitterly loves. 

In italiano (mia):

Una bellezza scosta le tende di perla,
siede seria aggrottando le sopracciglia.
Ma si scorgono tracce di lacrime,
non si sa a chi è rivolto l'odio del suo cuore.
